My plaintiff’s personal injury law firm is looking for a marketing assistant to help implement a number of marketing initiatives and work with freelancers and vendors to ensure that our firm has a steady flow of potential new clients and that the qualified prospects retain our firm as clients.
You will be working directly with the firm’s head partner and will be given significant, meaningful work to do your first day on the job along with the training and education to do it well. This is a job for someone with a quick, curious mind who wants to learn and master new skills all the time. It is a small firm, so you must be reliable, drama-free, and take-charge. This is not the place for someone who uses the phrase, “It’s not my job.” If it doesn’t involve actually practicing law, it very may be part of your job, especially when it involves marketing.
We market for potential personal injury clients through a number of channels, and your basic role will be to measure the effectiveness of the various channels and working on improving the effectiveness of each channel and the marketing program as a whole. Direct response marketing is at the heart of what we do, which means that we look to measure everything we do – branding is not what we are about. We use TV, print media, the Internet, drip campaigns … you will be working on all of them. Familiarity with the works of Dan Kennedy, John Jantsch, Seth Godin, Jay Abraham, and other small business marketers is helpful but not required … yet.
The starting pay is $40,000 per year with a raise at 6 months, based on merit. After 2 months, we provide 5 days PTO, and additional 5 days after 6 months. After the first year, we offer 15 days PTO. Bonuses will be paid based on production.
Here is how the application process will go:
1. Submit a resume and cover letter in PDF format to [email protected] with the subject line of the e-mail reading, “Seriously ready to get to work!” The cover letter should bring to my attention any relevant career experience which would not be immediately obvious from your resume. It must also tell me why you are interested in this job, and not just any job. We will be accepting resumes though 6:00 p.m. CST on September 12.
2. We will review the resume and select reasonable candidates for a lengthy phone interview which will be completed between September 19 and September 23. I will be blocking an hour of my time for the phone interview. Persons selected for the phone interview will be notified no later than September 15.
3. The finalists for the position will be brought in for an in-person interview and lunch the week of September 26.
4. The projected start date will be October 15. I expect every person working in the firm to read Michael Gerber’s E-Myth Revisited before their first day.
Please do not call at any point during the application process unless you are returning a call.
