Last week I was privileged to speak to approximately 90+ incoming 1L law students at University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law orientation.

I presented a closing argument from a federal case I won an acquittal on, sat on a panel with other SD Trial Lawyers Board members answering questions, and attended a social at Carey’s with the law students.

It was refreshing to speak with the fresh-eyed students and get to provide them advice. I’m excited to see these law students grow and give back to our South Dakota community! Go get ‘em, lean in to that fear 😊

Team summer activity: Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga at Lake Lorraine. ☀️🧘‍♀️🏄‍♀️

As I lay on my paddleboard during vinyasa—with my legs in the cool water, blue sky overhead, Allison, Jelena, Sheila, and Rose floating nearby—I couldn’t help but feel grateful.

Grateful for a team that works incredibly hard for our clients, but also takes time to laugh, recharge, and enjoy moments like this together.

It also made me think of my late grandfather, who brought our family to Sioux Falls from Wisconsin in 1968 to open and manage the Holiday Inn City Centre downtown for decades. He taught me his “work hard, play hard” philosophy, and I’ve always tried to create that balance in my business.

At Griese Law Firm, we work hard because our clients deserve our very best. We also believe taking time to reconnect as a team as a break from the stress makes us stronger, more focused, and better able to serve the people who trust us with some of life’s most important challenges.

Happy 3 year anniversary to our associate attorney Allison Sanner!!

A Parker native and USD law grad, Allison has become an invaluable part of the Griese law team. ❤️ She brings intelligence, determination and compassion to every client she represents.

Over the past 3 years, Allison has established herself as a relentless advocate with earning an acquittal verdict for a client at trial, fighting tirelessly for parents and children in custody and parenting time disputes, helping families grow through successful adoptions, and making sure every client’s voice is heard both in and out of the courtroom.

Her smiling face and quick wit have become a staple in our office, making the serious tough work we do a little brighter for the team.

Excited to keep seeing you grow Alli, thanks for the 3 years and more to come!!
