Cochise County Law Enforcement Memorial A memorial honoring those that have fallen in Cochise County, AZ protecting the community. Coronado Dr, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635. The memorial is 3 structure.

The Cochise County Law Enforcement Memorial is an Eagle Scout Project by Zachary Chrzanowski. The memorial will honor those that have fallen in Cochise County, Arizona protecting the community. The memorial will honor 27 Officers/Agents/Deputies and 2 K9 partners. The officers date back to 1880 with Marshal Fred White of the Tombstone Marshal's Office. The memorial is located at the Sierra Vista P

olice Department located at 911 N. The 1st structure is the Thin Blue Line. It contains that Thin Blue Line and the name of the memorial. The 2nd structure is the hero wall containing all the names of the fallen. The 3rd structure is the K9 wall contacting the 2 K9 names. The project had a total of 1800hrs of service for the building and planning of the memorial.

This morning Arizona is waking up and mourning the lost of another officer in the state. Officer Clayton Townsend, of Salt River Police Deparment in Maricopa County, was killed late last evening on a traffic stop on the 101. He was killed by a distract driver who did not move into the other lane when coming up on the traffic stop. Rest in Peace Officer Townsend. Please keep Salt River PD and his friends and family in your thoughts today.

Please keep your thoughts and prayers in mind for the family of a US Marshal that was killed in Tucson, AZ tonight. The suspect that shot the Marshal has since been taken in to custody.

Border Patrol Agent Alexander Giannini was killed in an automobile accident on I-10, near Sybil Road, near Benson, Arizona, shortly after 7:30 am.

Agent Giannini and another agent were traveling eastbound on I-10 when their vehicle was involved in a collision. Agent Giannini was flown to University Medical Center in Tucson, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Agent Giannini had served with the United States Border Patrol for five years and was assigned to the Willcox Station. He was survived by his parents, sister, and fiancee.

Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Ivie was accidentally shot and killed in a case of mistaken identity when he and another pair of agents checked on a ground sensor that had been set off near Bisbee, Arizona, at approximately 1:30 am.

The agents encountered each other in an area of extremely rocky terrain. Because of the darkness and obstructions, they were unable to identify each other as agents. They exchanged gunfire during the encounter and Agent Ivie was killed while one of the other agents was wounded.

Agent Ivie had served with the U.S. Border Patrol for four years and was assigned to the Brian A. Terry Border Patrol Station. He is survived by his wife and children, and his parents.

Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was shot and killed near Rio Rico, Arizona, while attempting to apprehend a group of armed subjects. The suspects had been preying on illegal immigrants with the intent to rob them.

Agent Terry and several other agents were attempting to arrest the group when shots were exchanged between the suspects and agents. Agent Terry was struck in the pelvis by a round fired by a suspect armed with an AK-47.

He was flown to a hospital where he succumbed early the following morning.

One of the subjects who was wounded in the shootout was taken into custody at the scene and charged with murder. Four other subjects fled the scene and were believed to have returned to Mexico. Ono of the four fugitives was arrested by Mexican authorities in September 2012 and is awaiting extradition.

On October 30th, 2012, the subject who was wounded in the initial shootout pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and faces life in prison during his formal sentencing hearing.

On December 12th, 2012, the straw buyer who purchased two of the weapons found at the scene of Agent Terry's murder was sentenced to 57 months in prison.

In April 2017 the suspected triggerman who shot Agent Terry was arrested in Mexico.

Agent Terry was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served with the United States Border Patrol for 3-1/2 years. He had previously served as a police officer with the Lincoln Park, Michigan, Police Department. He is survived by his parents, brother, two sisters, five nieces, and one nephew and is buried in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, Wayne County, Michigan.

K9 Rico was struck and killed by a tractor trailer after becoming separated from his handler while tracking two fleeing suspects.

Rico's handler had attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on I-10, but the vehicle fled at high speeds until crashing. The two occupants fled on foot with Rico and his handler in pursuit. As his handler caught one of the subject Rico somehow became separated. He instinctively return to the patrol car, but was struck by a passing tractor trailer on I-10 as he waited for his handler to return.

The vehicle that had crashed was found to contain 967 pounds of ma*****na. The two illegal aliens who fled from it were arrested and charged with several narcotics charges.

K9 Rico had served with the Arizona Department of Public Safety for seven years. He had been responsible for the seizure of nearly 68,000 pounds of ma*****na, five pounds of he**in, 86 pounds of co***ne, 95 pounds of m**h and almost $1,000,000 in currency.

Special Agent Gary P. Friedli died the day after being involved in a vehicle accident while en route to investigate possible drug smuggling in Douglas, Arizona.

Agent Friedli is survived by his wife and daughter.
