It was wonderful to see a huge crowd gather for a common cause Saturday. The 5th Annual Autism Awareness Walk organized by Town of Many Councilwoman Anita Darwin showed support for local autistic children and adults.

It was an honor to participate in the walk and to also experience the great Bloom On Main downtown celebration. Young and old came together to support local vendors, music, food and family activities. From farm fresh fruits and vegetables to a young budding artist, the event really showcased Sabine’s beautiful diversity and many talents.

Sabine Strong is a lot more than a slogan. It is truly who we are, and I am so proud to be a part of this remarkable place.

Our parish youth are Sabine’s greatest treasure. Attorney Verity Gentry is committed to their bright future.

She was honored to sponsor the top prize this week in the Sabine Prevention Alliance and Town of Many’s Art Poster Contest. Its theme was “Staying Safe, Sober and Successful.” Students from across the parish created art posters to encourage good decisions.

“I am happy to sponsor an event that celebrates our youth, community, art, and healthy choices,” Gentry said.

Many High School Sophomore Victoria Gaspard, shown here with Gentry, won the $100 First Place prize among Sabine High School entries.

“I am so proud of your creativity and hard work,” Gentry told winners after awarding prizes at Many City Hall Tuesday evening.

Congratulations once again! Verity Gentry has been named a “Rising Star Super Lawyer” for the second consecutive year.

Super Lawyers is a national rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. While up to five percent of the lawyers in the state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.

“I am honored that the hard work put in on behalf of clients has been recognized by my peers,” Gentry said.

Gentry began her career as an Orleans Parish Public Defender in New Orleans, then moved on to other prominent Louisiana law firms before opening her own thriving offices in Many and Shreveport. She has successfully handled thousands of cases across Louisiana.

“Though it is humbling to be recognized in the field, there is no reward greater than being in the courtroom advocating for my clients and making sure justice is served fairly and humanely. That is truly my passion,” Gentry shared.
