Joel A. Rice, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Centenary College of Louisiana in 2001. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from E. J. Ourso College of Business (L.S.U. Baton Rouge) in 2005. He also earned his Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Civil Law degrees from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2005 and was admitted to the practice of law in Louisiana that same year.
Mr. Rice began his legal career in 2005 at a mid-sized firm located in downtown Shreveport, where his primary areas of practice were in oil and gas law, contracts, and title examination. In early 2008 he left the firm to pursue an in-house position with a local oil and gas exploration company where he served as Land & Legal until mid-2010. After leaving his in-house position, Mr. Rice enjoyed a solo practice until joining Rice & Kendig in 2012. In 2018, Mr. Rice left Rice & Kendig and formed Rice Law Firm, LLC.
In addition to being admitted to practice before the Louisiana bar, Mr. Rice is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for both the Western and Eastern Districts of Louisiana. He is a member of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and the Shreveport Bar Association.
Mr. Rice practices primarily in the area of personal injury law, but he also practices in the areas of energy, oil and gas, general corporate representation, successions, and estate planning. His experience working in the oil and gas industry gives him an uncommon and useful perspective, especially in understanding oilfield injury cases.
