Better staffing will improve all areas of work. Studies repeatedly show that more registered nurses equal better patient outcomes and better patient satisfaction!

Truth! Nursing homes place profits over people everyday! always check Medicares nursing home compare sight. Always look at overall rating and staffing. Proper staffing which means staffing for patient needs, not just the absolute minimum levels to keep the doors open.

Concerns about the rate of infections and deaths due to Covid 19 has increased since the Delta variant can cause breakthrough infections. Again nursing home residents are the highest at risk population. They are at highest risk to acquire the newest variant of Covid despite being fully vaccinated and they are at highest risk for death due to the virus. AARP has made tracking nursing home vaccination and infection rates easy.

Louisiana nursing homes are provided protection from liabilities during this state of emergency. We saw evidence of Covid 19 spreading needlessly, patients placed in isolation and left to deteriorate, a rise in pressure injuries (bedsores), and a rise in falls during this time. Owners , many of whom are not residents of Louisiana, failed to provide staff with proper equipment, training, and support during this time leading to a decline in patient outcomes. Protections for negligent nursing homes need to be rescinded!
