California law already prohibits certain immigration-related retaliation against workers. Proposed bill, AB 2495, now awaiting action by Governor Newsom, would expand those protections by also addressing immigration-related intimidation used to discourage workers from exercising their rights in the first place.

If an employer is using immigration-related threats to keep you from reporting harassment, unpaid wages, unsafe conditions, or another workplace concern, it is important to understand the protections that may already apply.
