🚨 WHAT IS HAPPENING AT FANNIE MAE? 🚨
If you work in real estate, lending, or appraisal, this is worth watching.
🏠 HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW:
🔹 Roughly 12 senior Fannie Mae executives were reportedly let go this week.
🔹 The eliminated positions reportedly included leadership in:
• Finance
• Regulatory affairs
• Multifamily lending
• Low-income housing tax-credit investments
• Communications
🔹 This is not the first round of cuts.
🔹 In October 2025, Fannie Mae eliminated 62 additional positions as part of an effort to streamline operations.
🔹 In April 2025, FHFA announced that more than 100 Fannie Mae employees had been terminated for alleged unethical conduct, including the facilitation of fraud.
⚠️ BUT HERE’S WHAT REALLY HAS MY ATTENTION AS AN APPRAISER…
We are only weeks away from one of the largest appraisal-reporting changes our industry has seen in decades.
📋 UAD 3.6 becomes mandatory on November 2, 2026.
The traditional appraisal forms are being replaced by a new dynamic, data-driven reporting structure.
Fannie Mae was still publishing updated UAD 3.6 FAQs on August 18, just days before these executive departures were reported.
❓ Will these leadership changes affect the UAD 3.6 rollout?
❓ Will there be additional changes?
❓ Will implementation remain on schedule?
At this point, I have found no announcement from Fannie Mae changing the November 2 mandate.
For now, appraisers, lenders, and agents should continue preparing for November 2.
But this is definitely something I will be watching closely. 👀
