Eligible South Carolina households will receive a food assistance boost in July through a new federal program called Pandemic EBT (“P-EBT”). P-EBT is available for school-aged children who receive free or reduced-price meals, when school is open. The average benefit will be $5.70 per day, per child, which for South Carolina students will total approximately $330. The P-EBT benefit will be provided as a one-time payment, meant to reimburse families for food assistance lost during March 16th-June 10th.
For more information on this new program, including eligibility and how to access the funds, please see the guide on our website: http://www.scjustice.org/pandemic-ebt-in-sc/
P-EBT will be administered by the SC Department of Social Services; thanks DSS for all of your hard work on this program!
