In the wake of the Lake Hartwell news we're all talking about in our community — Ever wonder how Clemson’s d**es help protect the University? 🌊 This video shows what campus would look like if the d**es failed. Tune in to minute 4:00 if you want to skip the history of campus and Lake Hartwell. Although that's pretty darn interesting for those of us part of the Clemson Family! 🐅
The Clemson Lower Diversion Dam Saddle D**e helps reduce flood risk for Clemson University and surrounding communities along Lake Hartwell.
Recent updates from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers note that seepage concerns have led to temporary lake-level restrictions. Hartwell’s year-round full-pool target is now 656 feet (down from 660 feet), helping reduce pressure on the d**e while long-term improvements are developed. There is no immediate danger to the public, and the Corps continues to monitor the structure closely.
Watch the video to learn more about the d**es—and the important role they play in protecting Clemson. 🐾 And when you're ready to invest in Clemson, I'm here to help!
