Hilda & Ken's Sauerkraut Hilda & Ken's Original Recipe Sauerkraut - Handmade and Naturally Fermented Our recipe started in 1942 by Hilda in Central Pennsylvania.

Handmade with a slaw board and a clay crock, she would make sauerkraut for friends and family. By popular demand, and family encouragement Hilda decided to make her product available in stores with help from her son-in-law Ken in 1970. In 2015 Hilda and Ken decided to retire and stop making their sauerkraut. When this news reached the ears of a local business person and fan of their sauerkraut, h

e contacted them to keep their product alive. Today, using the same clay crocks, Hilda and Ken's Sauerkraut is made using the same recipe Hilda started back in 1942 and sold in store's since 1970. We also use cabbage grown by the local farmers here in the Susquehanna Valley.
