It’s That Time Of Year Again!
It’s the beginning of a new fiscal year, and that means that taxes need to be filed! Please get your 1099’s to us as soon as possible, because there are a lot of important dates coming up that we all want to be ahead of the curve on.

On January 27, E-File Will Open. The earlier you can get your claim in, the more peace of mind you’ll have knowing that it’s all squared away. Being proactive is one of the best ways to make tax season as simple and light as possible.

In the first week of March, PATH Act returns start funding for direct deposit customers. See why you want your 1099’s in so early? The IRS advises that enrolling in direct deposit is the fastest way to receive your return.

April 15th is the deadline for 2024 tax returns. That’s only about eight weeks between opening and ending dates! Start compiling your documents now, so then we at Hammond Inc can help you file your return as hassle-free as possible!

In the event that you are not already aware, Congress passed a new federal law in 2020 called the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) which is now in effect and administered by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (aka FinCEN). The new law requires that any foreign or domestic entity (aka reporting entity) whose formation required the filing of a document with the secretary of state (i.e., Corporation (C or S), LLC (single member, partnership, etc.) report its existence and beneficial ownership information to the US Treasury via the FinCEN BOI website https://fincen.gov/boi. This report is only required to be filed once unless beneficial ownership changes in the future. Non-compliance may result in a fine of $500/day until the violation is remedied. For entities that existed prior to 1/1/24 the filing deadline is on or before 1/1/25.
