Recently, the USPTO expedited review of celebrity owned trademark applications (e.g. the BLUE IVY marks). Is this a positive effort by the USPTO to discourage unsavory applicants, for example, people trying to capitalize off Trayvon Martin's death? Or, is it means of providing preferential treatment to celebrities? (FYI, the BLUE IVY apps were reviewed 3 weeks after filing. Standing waiting time at the PTO is 3 MONTHS.)
