FLOW is honored to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Justice Mary I. Yu at this year’s Barrio Fiesta on Saturday, October 25.

After over 25 years on the bench, 11 of them in the Washington State Supreme Court, Justice Yu will be retiring at the end of this year. The daughter of immigrants and the first in her family to go to college, Justice Yu is the first woman of color (first Asian and first Latina) and the first member of the LGBTQ community to serve on the Washington State Supreme Court. Throughout her career, Justice Yu has been dedicated to ensuring that our state’s court system is equitable and accessible — “justice” is not only her title but her life’s work.
