Behind every powerful woman is a photo that actually looks like her — and that's rarer than it should be.
For National Women's Small Business Month, we're celebrating the woman who changed that for us: Suzanne Rothmeyer, a Seattle brand photographer who has spent more than 20 years capturing women exactly as they are.
Suzanne has become a true part of the DLLG family, and working with her is genuinely one of our favorite days on the calendar. The woman is a force — on our photoshoot days, she logs close to 30,000 steps, chasing the right light, the right angle, the right moment with an energy that's impossible not to feed off of. Her creativity is relentless, and it shows. Nearly every image on the newly redesigned DLLG website was taken by her. Our team headshots, our group shots, those candid mid-laugh moments we actually want to share? All Suzanne.

Women's sports aren't a moment. They're a movement and one woman changed the game — and the channel, in the Seattle area sports bar arena.
For National Women's Small Business Month, we're celebrating — Seattle's first sports bar dedicated to women's sports, founded by the trailblazing entrepreneur and gender-equity champion Jen Barnes in Ballard in 2022.
Since opening its doors, Rough & Tumble has become a beloved community hub and a global model for inclusive sports culture — earning praise from The New York Times, Vogue, Forbes, and ESPN, and helping bring professional women's hockey to Seattle.
Think about what it means to walk into a room where she is the main event. Jen Barnes built that room. And now she's building another one (Seattle location coming soon).

Last year, Washington Governor Bob Ferguson, Seattle’s Mayor at the time, Bruce Harrell and King County Executive Shannon Braddock officially recognized October as Women in Sports Month across Washington State, King County and Seattle, celebrating the impact women have across every level of sport, from youth participation and professional competition to coaching, officiating and leadership. This October, we’re carrying that celebration forward.

We celebrate the women who have shaped Seattle sports, the athletes who continue to change the game, the leaders creating opportunities beyond the field, and the next generation of girls who will carry it forward.

Throughout the month, we’ll share their stories and highlight opportunities to get involved through the Girls LEAD Coalition, our annual Women in Leadership Breakfast, Seattle’s women’s professional teams, and events happening across the region.

Because when more women and girls have the opportunity to play, lead and belong, our entire sports community gets stronger.

We love women's sports — and today, October 1st marks Seattle's very first Women in Sports Month, which is long overdue.
For the first time, we have a full month to honor the women and girls who make our sports community what it is.
This month, show up for them.
• Cheer on the youth teams at your local field.
• Fill the stands at a high school game.
• Support your college athletes.
• Attend a professional women's compeition.
And if you haven't yet, get out and watch the Seattle Reign FC — because women's sports thrive when we show up.

Look at this face. Seriously now. Delaney (fur baby of Amanda) is a doll. And he recently got into a scary “what did you eat?” snafu after a walk along the Burke Gilman Trial in Fremont, that brought up two important truths:

#1: Pets are a big part of the family, your heart, your daily emotional support plan.
#2: Washington state has the most THC toxicity pet crises in the nation.

Silver divorces are booming for Boomers. Over 40% of divorces are now for couples 50 or older. And 1 in 4 people in greater Seattle sit in the “silver divorce” age range right now.
