We are thrilled to officially announce that Elizabeth A. “Liz” Stigdon has joined our team of attorneys at Houston, Thompson & Lewis!

Liz brings 15 years of experience as a prosecutor to our firm, along with a wealth of courtroom and trial experience. Throughout her career, she has handled a wide variety of legal matters, including jury trials, child support cases, and cases involving domestic violence and sexual assault.

Her extensive courtroom experience, knowledge of the legal system, and dedication to serving individuals and families make her an incredible addition to our team!

Liz will be accepting clients in a variety of practice areas, including:

⚖️ Family Law – Divorce, child custody, parenting time, child support, and other family law matters.

⚖️ Guardian ad Litem (GAL) – Representing the best interests of children in custody and other family law proceedings.

⚖️ Estate Planning – Assisting individuals and families with wills, powers of attorney, and planning for the future.

⚖️ Estate Administration – Guiding families through probate and the administration of a loved one's estate.

⚖️ Criminal Matters – Representation in select criminal cases.

Our elementary cross country program does not receive funding from the school, so support from local businesses and our community makes a real difference for these kids. Race sponsorship funds will be used to help feed and hydrate our runners at meets throughout the season.

Houston, Thompson and Lewis, PC is looking for a Front Desk Receptionist / Legal Assistant to join our team in Scottsburg, Indiana.

This position combines front office responsibilities with legal assistant duties, including assisting with our busy real estate practice.
Responsibilities include:

* Greeting clients and visitors
* Answering phones and scheduling appointments
* Preparing legal documents and correspondence
* Assisting with residential and commercial real estate closings
* Coordinating with clients, lenders, title companies, and real estate agents
* Managing files and helping attorneys with day-to-day legal and administrative tasks
* Providing exceptional customer service while helping keep the office running efficiently

We’re looking for someone who is dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys working with people. Prior legal or real estate experience is a plus, but we’re willing to train the right person with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.

Pay: $12.00–$20.00 per hour, depending on education and experience.

In observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day, Houston, Thompson and Lewis and Hoosier Title will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and serves as a time to reflect on our nation’s history, celebrate freedom, and honor the resilience and contributions of African Americans throughout our communities and country.

Our offices will reopen and resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 9:00 AM.
