Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Dogs add so much love, happiness, and purpose to our lives. They ask for so little but give us absolutely everything they have.

We’re so blessed to spend our days surrounded by these amazing dogs. We get to watch them learn, grow, serve, and form bonds with their handlers that are hard to even put into words. We truly love every dog that comes through our doors, and we’re so thankful we get to play even a small part in their journey.

We don’t just teach and train it, we live it 💪 a great find from our very own Officer Burton and K9 W***y 👏

“Around 3:30 this afternoon, Monroe Police Department’s Aggressive Criminal Enforcement unit stopped a vehicle near Dickerson Boulevard and West Roosevelt Boulevard after the driver ran a red light.
During the traffic stop, K9 W***y alerted officers to the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and found a kilo of co***ne inside a shoebox.

The driver, identified as Oscar Ismael Munoz-Aleman, 26, of Charlotte, was arrested and charged with:
-Trafficking in Co***ne
-Maintaining a Vehicle for the Purpose of Selling a Controlled Substance

Munoz-Aleman was taken to the Union County Detention Center.

We’re proud of W***y and his ability to help our officers keep dangerous drugs off the streets. He did what he does best and this time it led officers to a significant amount of co***ne.”

He’s a super star 🤩🐾🔥

Congratulations to K9 Riggins for successfully passing his Canine Good Citizen Test. The main purpose of the test is to show that a dog has basic obedience, good manners, and appropriate behavior around people and other dogs.

The test is particularly useful for a Fire & EMS support/community-outreach dog because it provides an independently recognized benchmark showing that he can tolerate strangers, crowds, handling, distractions, other dogs, and extended separation while remaining under control. It also creates a nice foundation for pursuing therapy-dog credentials. Special thanks to for his excellent obedience training, for administering the test, and / for providing us a dog for the distraction test.
