Did you know bottled water is regulated by the FDA as a packaged food product?

Federal bottled water standards have existed since 1973 and, to this day, they must meet or exceed EPA standards for tap water. That includes strict requirements for quality, safety, manufacturing, labeling, and sanitation.

Many bottled water companies, such as members of the International Bottled Water Association, also follow additional industry standards and independent inspections.

That's a lot of layers of protection, so every sip is one you can feel good about. ✅

A lot of people are surprised to learn this: bottled water has the smallest environmental footprint of any packaged beverage.

There are two reasons why. First, water itself requires less water and energy to produce than other packaged drinks. Second, the popular PET bottle uses fewer resources to manufacture than alternative beverage packaging options (think: aluminum cans, glass bottles, and paper cartons). And when you recycle that bottle, it can become a new one, a real-world example of the circular economy in action!
