🚨Important Update for Auto Dealers: FTC Cracks Down on Advertising Practices. On 3.13.26, the Federal Trade Commission sent warning letters to 97 dealerships nationwide. The FTC is enforcing a new interpretation of Section 5 of the FTC Act focused on price transparency in vehicle advertising.

Key points dealers need to know:
🔹Advertised prices must reflect all required fees (including Illinois Doc Fee and ERT Fee)
🔹You can no longer advertise a price with rebates/discounts not available to everyone
🔹Advertised prices must take into account the required down payment amount
🔹FTC guidance now preempts conflicting state rules on fee disclosure

🇺🇸 With Memorial Day sales approaching, it’s a crucial time for dealers to revisit their advertising practices. Even if your dealership didn’t receive a letter, you should review your ads, websites, and marketing materials. Read the full article by Sarah J.
