📢 IMPORTANT PENNDOT REGISTRATION PLATE REISSUANCE UPDATE 📢
PennDOT has announced several changes to its Registration Plate Reissuance Program effective June 1, 2026.
🚗 “G” Series Plates
Beginning June 1, 2026, passenger registration plates starting with the letter “G” are being added to PennDOT’s Central Reissuance Program. Customers with “G” series plates will begin receiving letters directly from PennDOT notifying them that their plate will be replaced through the state’s reissuance program.
✅ Effective June 1, 2026, “G” series plates will NO LONGER be replaced by agents during a registration transfer. These plates must be transferred with the registration.
🚗 “L” Series Plates
Beginning June 1, 2026, “L” series plates will be added to PennDOT’s General Reissuance Program.
✅ “L” series plates MUST now be replaced during a registration transfer, just like current “H,” “J,” and “K” series plates.
🚗 Current Central Reissuance Program
PennDOT continues to centrally replace registration plates beginning with:
• D
• E
• F
• Y
• G (effective June 1, 2026)
⚠️ Important Reminder:
If a “G” series plate is replaced in error on or after June 1, 2026, the customer will be charged the replacement fee, and the agent/dealer will not be reimbursed.
