Sarasota law firm seeking Legal Assistant to personally assist the managing attorney. Main responsibility will include assisting the attorney with a broad range of administrative support responsibilities in addition to managing the office. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to multi-task, be resourceful, organized, and have outstanding time management abilities.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior administrative work experience
- Fluent in Microsoft WORD, Outlook, File Explorer and Adobe
- Accuracy in making changes in Microsoft WORD
- Proficiency in English usage, spelling, grammar & punctuation
- Excellent organization skills & dedication to attention to detail
- Professional presentation and work ethic

"Undue Influence" is the most common way the elderly are exploited ... often by individuals who insert themselves a in false position of care and trust of seniors with no immediate family or friends.

According to Cornell Law School, Undue Influence occurs anytime someone applies improper pressure on another person to create a legally binding obligation that is not in the maker’s best interest. Undue influence usually involves flattery and emotional manipulation. There are 3 elements to prove a case of Undue Influence:
• A weakened or vulnerable state of the victim
• The 'opportunity' for the other person to take advantage of that state (post-hospitalization or health event)
• Unusual or suspicious changes to living arrangements or finances

Elder Exploitation is so common that the Sarasota County Sheriff's Department now has a stand alone 'Special Victims Unit' which is tasked with follow-up investigations of crimes against the elderly, specifically exploitation. This unit works closely with Florida Department of Children & Families and Adult Protection Service Investigators.
