Every Sunday night, about an hour before sunset, the Siesta Key Drum Circle takes over the public beach near the main pavilion at Siesta Beach, 948 Beach Road.

It starts with a few drums and builds into hundreds of people dancing, fire performers, and a full crowd watching the sunset. There are no tickets, no schedule, and no official host. It just happens.

A few tips if you’re going:
👉 Arrive early. Parking at Siesta Beach fills up fast on Sunday evenings.
👉 Check the sunset time. It gets earlier through fall and winter, and the drums start about an hour before.
👉 Bring a chair or blanket and settle in for the full show.
👉 It’s free, and all ages are welcome.

Is getting a mortgage still hard? 🏡

It’s easier than it was a few years ago, but lenders are still strict. To them, it all comes down to risk. Here’s what they look at most closely:

👉 Your credit: your score and how you’ve handled debt in the past.
👉 Your income: whether it’s steady and whether you can document it.
👉 Your financial history: your existing debts, your savings, and how you manage money overall.

If any of those need work, getting pre-approved can still be a challenge. The good news is that preparation makes a real difference. Knowing what lenders want before you apply puts you in a much stronger position.

River Road is finally finished 🛣️

The $61 million widening between U.S. 41 and I-75 is complete, and it finished ahead of schedule. Here's what changed:

👉 5 miles went from two lanes to six, tripling the road's capacity.
👉 New bike and pedestrian paths, better crosswalks and improved lighting make it safer for drivers, cyclists and walkers.
👉 Commutes are easier between Venice, North Port, the West Villages, Englewood and I-75.
👉 It's a stronger hurricane evacuation route for South Sarasota County and the communities to the south.

If you live along River Road, or you've been eyeing homes in Venice or North Port but worried about traffic, this is a real quality-of-life upgrade.
