PTSD is one of the most common service-connected conditions veterans deal with and one of the most underrated. πŸŽ—οΈ

Many veterans are denied or rated too low simply because PTSD is harder to prove than a physical injury. The VA wants evidence. They want a diagnosis, a stressor statement, and a clear connection to your service. Without the right documentation, a legitimate claim gets buried. πŸ“‹

If you've been denied, rated at 0%, or told your PTSD isn't service-connected, that is not the end of the road. Veterans Affairs Law fights these claims every day and knows exactly what it takes to build a case the VA cannot ignore.
You served. Your mental health matters. Your benefits are real. 🀍

When it comes to fighting the VA for the benefits you earned, who you have in your corner matters. πŸŽ–οΈ

At Veterans Affairs Law, P.A., we are not just attorneys. We are advocates who understand what you have been through because most of our team has been there too.

We founded this firm after experiencing firsthand how the VA's decisions do not always reflect the reality of a veteran's sacrifice. We knew something had to change, and that education, research, and a deep understanding of each claim were the key to making it happen. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The VA has a team working against your claim. You deserve a team working just as hard for it. πŸ’ͺ🏽

Your VA disability rating is more than just a percentage. It is a number that directly determines your monthly compensation, your healthcare access, your family's benefits, and your long-term financial security. πŸ“‹

Here is what the difference between a 30% and 70% VA disability rating actually looks like:

πŸ’° The pay gap is significant.
A 30% rating pays roughly $524 per month. A 70% rating pays roughly $1,716 per month. That is a difference of over $1,100 every single month and more than $13,000 every year.
πŸ₯ It is about more than just a paycheck.
At 30%, you receive VA healthcare and limited dependent benefits. At 70%, you unlock priority healthcare access, higher dependent compensation, and additional allowances for a spouse, children, or parents.
πŸ”’ Your rating follows you for life.

A higher rating means more monthly compensation, stronger benefits for your family, and a better case for TDIU if your disability prevents you from maintaining employment. Fighting for the right rating is not just about today. It is about every month that follows.

If your current VA disability rating does not reflect the true impact of your condition, you have the right to appeal and fight for what you actually deserve. πŸ’ͺ🏽

There is a lot of misinformation out there about VA disability claims, and it is costing veterans the benefits they have earned. 🚨 Let's set the record straight.

❌ "I waited too long to file."
βœ… Your service never expires. You can file a VA disability claim at any point after discharge, no matter how many years have passed.

❌ "My VSO handles everything."
βœ… Veterans Service Organizations can be helpful, but they cannot represent you in court or at the appeals level. A VA-accredited attorney can. βš–οΈ

❌ "If I was denied once, I won't win an appeal."
βœ… A denial is not the end. Many veterans win their VA disability appeal with the right evidence and experienced legal representation on their side. πŸ’ͺ🏽

If any of these myths have been holding you back from filing or appealing a claim, now you know the truth.

You earned these benefits. Do not let misinformation stand between you and what you are owed. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

If you recently received a VA decision letter, there is one deadline every Florida veteran needs to know about. ⏳

From the day the VA mails your decision letter, you have exactly one year to file an appeal or request a Higher Level Review. Missing that window can cost you significantly more than most veterans realize. 🚨

Here is what happens if you miss it:
πŸ“‹ Your decision becomes final.
πŸ“‹ You can still file a Supplemental Claim with new evidence, but you lose your original effective date.
πŸ“‹ Your effective date resets, meaning the VA only owes you benefits from the new filing date forward.

And here is why that matters for your back pay πŸ’°

Your effective date determines how far back the VA owes you compensation. Waiting too long can mean thousands of dollars left on the table. The sooner you act after a denial, the more back pay you may be entitled to collect.

If your one-year window has not closed yet, now is the time to move. And if it has already passed, filing a Supplemental Claim with the right evidence may still get you the benefits you deserve.

If you are a veteran living with PTSD, you may be entitled to VA disability compensation. But many veterans either do not file a claim or have their claim denied because they do not fully understand what the VA is looking for. πŸŽ–οΈ

To establish service connection for a PTSD claim, the VA requires three things:
πŸ“‹ A current PTSD diagnosis from a qualified mental health professional.
⚑ A credible in-service stressor, meaning a traumatic event or experience that occurred during your military service.
πŸ”— A medical nexus directly linking your PTSD diagnosis to that in-service stressor.

One of the most important things to know: combat is not a requirement. 🚨 The VA recognizes a broad range of traumatic experiences as qualifying stressors, including military sexual trauma, witnessing death or injury, and other non-combat events.

If your PTSD claim was denied or you were never told you could file one, it is worth having your case reviewed by an experienced VA disability attorney.

VA Disability and VA Pension are two of the most commonly confused benefits in the veterans' benefits system. πŸŽ–οΈ Many Florida veterans assume they are the same or that they only qualify for one. Understanding the difference could open the door to compensation you did not know you were entitled to.

VA Disability is for veterans whose condition or injury is directly connected to their military service. Your income does not factor in. Compensation is based entirely on your disability rating, and benefits begin at just 10%. πŸ“‹

VA Pension is a needs-based benefit for wartime veterans who are permanently disabled or aged 65 and older. Unlike disability, your income and net worth are considered when determining eligibility. πŸ”

Here is the simplest way to remember it:
βœ… Disability requires service connection. Pension does not.
βœ… Disability has no income limit. Pension does.
βœ… Disability is based on your rating. Pension is based on financial need.
βœ… Both can include additional benefits for dependents.

If you are unsure which benefit applies to your situation, that is exactly where we can help. πŸ’ͺ🏽
