We are so proud of our Junior Keepers and the program. To find out more about becoming a future Junior Keeper please go to www.safariwestwildlifefoundation.org
The Safari West Wildlife Foundation is proud to announce the graduation of two of our long-standing Junior Keepers! Loren Gillogly and Zach Welch entered the Junior Keeper program in 2011 and have spent the last five years learning the ins and outs of animal husbandry, educational presentations, and all the skills necessary to make a place like Safari West work. Sunday, November 20th, both graduated from the Junior Keeper program. Lucky for us, they aren’t going far. Both Loren and Zach have been admitted into the Safari West Wildlife Preserve’s internship program!
Loren, with his encyclopedic knowledge of local flora and fauna and exuberance for wildlife will be entering our African Hoofstock Internship while Zach will be taking part in our pilot Information Technology Internship. In this modern era, our nation’s zoos, wildlife parks, and conservation organizations need dedicated biologists, keepers, educators, and IT specialists to further the advance of science and conservation.
We will also be celebrating the graduation of Lidia Tapia from the Safari West Wildlife Preserve Avian Internship. We’re especially excited because Lidia is our very first graduate to complete the entire program, from Junior Keeper through internship. Having completed a behavioral study of our flock of white-cheeked turacos, Lidia is now fully prepared to pursue a career in the industry or continue her studies at a collegiate level!
Please join us in congratulating these hard-working Junior Keepers and interns as they take the next step in their ongoing work in conservation and wildlife science. Congratulations Loren, Zach, and Lidia!
