On October 23, 2023, author Jessica York of the Santa Cruz Sentinel published an article involving a wrong-way DUI driver. A woman “was arrested on suspicion of DUI on the weekend after driving the wrong way on Highway 1 and later crashing into a pole on private property” (York 2023). Good Samaritans called 911 to report the driver’s unsafe behavior – and due to their quick-thinking, CHP dispatchers and officers were able to respond quickly to prevent future potential accidents.
If you ever find yourself entering a roadway against the flow of traffic, it is imperative to back out and turn around when safe (DMV.ca.gov). If you see a wrong-way driver, you are encouraged to slow down when safe, pull over to the right shoulder, wait for the driver to pass, and call 911. And – of course – never drink and drive.
Should you or your loved one experience an automobile collision, it is important to get an attorney’s expertise. Please feel free to call Wiles & Wiles at 831-426-3140 at your convenience. We’re here for you!
