Before you assume your personal injury case is worth only what your medical bills add up to, watch this.

One of my clients recently asked why we were demanding $150,000 from the insurance company when his medical bills were just under $20,000. It's a fair question—and one I hear from injured clients and even attorneys who don't practice personal injury law.

The truth is, there is no magic formula for determining the value of an injury case. Experienced personal injury attorneys evaluate many factors, including liability, the type of accident, the severity of the injuries, the client's credibility, insurance company practices, settlement trends, and much more.

In this video, I explain how I develop an opening settlement demand that is supported by the evidence, leaves room for negotiation, and encourages meaningful settlement discussions with the insurance company.

If you've ever wondered how personal injury lawyers determine what to demand in a settlement, this video will give you an inside look at the process.

🚶‍♂️ Did you know that making a vehicle's hood just one inch taller can increase the risk of a pedestrian being killed in a crash?

As SUVs and pickup trucks have become larger and taller over the years, pedestrian fatalities have risen as well. New research shows that higher front ends create bigger blind spots and can cause much more severe injuries when accidents occur.

In this video, I discuss the surprising connection between vehicle design and pedestrian safety, share important safety tips for pedestrians, and explain why understanding these risks can help prevent serious injuries.

Whether you're a driver, a parent, or someone who walks regularly, this is information everyone should know.

For years, I defended contractors, property owners, and insurance companies on the other side of injury claims. Now I use everything I learned there for one purpose: making sure burn injury victims get fairly compensated.

Few injuries are fought as hard by insurers as burns, and few are as misunderstood by the people who suffer them. A serious burn isn't a wound that heals and fades. It can mean repeated surgeries, skin grafts, permanent scarring, and a lifetime of consequences. The insurance company knows that, and it's exactly why they move fast to settle for far less than your claim is worth.

In my latest article, I break down how burn injuries happen, who can be held responsible under California law, and, most importantly, what the insurance company is doing behind the scenes to reduce or deny your claim.

If you or someone you love has suffered a burn injury in Santa Clarita, Valencia, or anywhere in LA, Orange, Ventura, or Kern County, the consultation is free, and there's no fee unless we recover for you.

🚗💥 Should You Talk to the Other Driver's Insurance Company After an Accident?

The short answer: **Not until you've spoken with a personal injury attorney.**

After a car accident, the other driver's insurance adjuster will likely call you quickly. They may seem friendly, but remember—their job is to protect the insurance company, not you.

✅ It's generally okay to discuss:
• Property damage
• Where your vehicle is located
• Repair or total loss issues

❌ Do NOT discuss:
• How the accident happened
• Who was at fault
• Your injuries or medical condition

One of the biggest mistakes people make is saying, **"I'm fine."** Even if you're trying to be polite, that statement can be used against you later if injuries develop or worsen.

Instead, if you haven't been evaluated by a medical professional, simply say:

*"I need to be checked out by a healthcare provider before discussing any injuries."*

Protect your rights. Get medical attention if needed. And speak with an experienced attorney before giving a recorded statement.

I'm Mason Rashtian, founder of The Mason Law Firm. I've been helping accident victims for nearly 30 years.

🚨 Think you can't recover compensation because the accident was partly your fault?

Think again.

One of the biggest myths in personal injury law is that if you share any blame for an accident, you don't have a case. That's simply not true in California.

California follows a legal rule called pure comparative negligence, which means you may still be entitled to compensation even if you were partially responsible for the accident. In some cases, people can recover damages even when they bear most of the fault.

Unfortunately, insurance companies know this too, and they often work hard to assign as much blame to you as possible because every percentage point can reduce what they have to pay.

The biggest mistake injured people make? Deciding on their own that they don't have a case and never speaking with an attorney.

If you've been injured in a car accident, motorcycle accident, truck accident, slip and fall, pedestrian accident, or other injury-causing incident, don't disqualify yourself before learning your rights.

At The Mason Law Firm, we know how insurance companies evaluate fault because Attorney Mason Rashtian spent years defending them before representing injury victims.

🦷 Let me ask you a question...

If you woke up tomorrow with an infected tooth, would you grab a pair of pliers from the garage and pull it yourself?

Of course not. You'd call a dentist.

So why do so many people try to handle their injury claims alone after an accident?

Insurance companies deal with claims every day. They know the system, and they have professionals working for them. You should have a professional working for you too.

At The Mason Law Firm, we know the pitfalls to avoid, what should and shouldn't be said to insurance adjusters, and how to protect your rights while pursuing the compensation you deserve.

And here's the best part: Personal injury attorneys work on a contingency fee basis. That means no upfront costs and no attorney fees unless we recover compensation for you.

Before you try to handle an injury claim on your own, give us a call. Even if you don't need an attorney, we'll tell you. But the smartest first step is getting professional guidance.

🚨 Don't Let a Deadline Destroy Your Injury Case

If you've been injured in a car accident, slip and fall, dog bite, or another incident caused by someone else's negligence, there is something you need to know:

You may have a limited amount of time to protect your rights.

In California, most personal injury claims must be resolved or a lawsuit filed within two years of the date of the injury. However, there are important exceptions:

✅ Claims against government entities require action within 6 months
✅ Medical malpractice cases often have different deadlines
✅ Different rules may apply for minors
✅ Property damage claims generally have a longer deadline

The biggest mistake I see people make is assuming they can deal with their claim later. Unfortunately, if the statute of limitations expires, you may lose your right to recover compensation permanently.

In this video, I explain the most common filing deadlines that apply to California personal injury cases and why timing matters.
