🎉 K-1 FIANCÉ VISA APPROVED — AND ANOTHER HAPPY CLIENT! 🇺🇸❤️

“If there were 1,000 stars, I would give Trang all 1,000 stars!” 😂❤️

Reading a review like this makes my day—not only because the client passed her K-1 Visa interview, but because it reflects something we take very seriously at DP Legal Solutions: preparation before the interview.

For every K-1 case, filing the petition is only part of our job.

Before the actual U.S. Consulate interview, I personally conduct a mock interview with the client—and I intentionally make it difficult.

I ask detailed questions.
I ask follow-up questions.
I may ask the same issue in different ways.
I look for inconsistencies, weak points, and anything that could create confusion at the real interview.

Sometimes my mock interview may feel harder than the actual interview. That is intentional.

I would rather have my client feel nervous and challenged with me first, where we still have time to explain, correct, and prepare, than encounter a difficult question for the first time in front of a Consular Officer.

And behind every attorney is a team that keeps the case moving. This client's special recognition of Trang's dedication, enthusiasm, and responsibility throughout the entire process makes me especially proud of her and our staff. ❤️

The result today?

✅ K-1 Fiancé Visa APPROVED
✅ Interview PASSED
✈️ Next stop: United States

Congratulations to our client and her fiancé on reaching this important milestone. And thank you for trusting Trang, me, and DP Legal Solutions with your journey.

We may not be able to collect all 1,000 stars on Google 😂, but we'll happily take the five. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

🎉 TWO GREEN CARDS APPROVED FOR MOM & DAD!

Some approvals are especially meaningful because they represent more than just one successful case. They represent a relationship and trust built over many years.

I have had the privilege of working with this family for nearly 10 years.

It started when the husband was preparing to travel to Vietnam to marry his future wife. We later handled her K-1 Fiancé Visa, brought her to the United States, and assisted with her Adjustment of Status after they married.

Years passed. She eventually became a U.S. citizen.

Then she came back to me again. This time, not for herself.

She wanted to petition for her own Mom and Dad. ❤️

Both parents had originally entered the United States legally with B-1/B-2 visitor visas, but they had remained in the country beyond their authorized stay for approximately five years.

We prepared two Adjustment of Status cases.

And now, two more approvals for this family:

✅ Dad — APPROVED
✅ Mom — APPROVED
⏱️ Approximately 8 months and 20 days
🎉 NO INTERVIEW

From a K-1 Fiancé Visa, to marriage, Adjustment of Status, U.S. citizenship, and now Green Cards for Mom and Dad.

Nearly ten years. One family. Different chapters of their American immigration journey.

What makes me especially grateful is not simply seeing two more approval notices. It is knowing that a family I first represented almost a decade ago continues to come back and place its trust in me, from one immigration milestone to the next, and now from one generation to another.

Congratulations to Mom and Dad, and congratulations to the entire family. Thank you for allowing me to remain a small part of your family's journey in America. 🇺🇸❤️

An immigration overstay does not automatically qualify someone for Adjustment of Status. Eligibility depends on the manner of entry, qualifying relationship, immigration history, and other individual circumstances. Past results do not guarantee future outcomes.

When a client is willing to travel from San Ramon to San Leandro for estate planning, I don’t take that trust lightly.

This recent AVVO review particularly meant a lot to me because this client came from San Ramon to my office in San Leandro to have me update her family Living Trust.

She described her experience with words that reflect exactly how I want clients to feel when working with me:

Professional. Knowledgeable. Thorough. Helpful. Clear. Attention to detail.

But the sentence that meant the most to me was:

“I would not hesitate to refer my friends and family to him.”

To me, that is one of the highest compliments an attorney can receive.

Estate planning isn’t simply about preparing documents. When I review an existing Living Trust, I want to understand what was done before, what has changed in the client’s life, whether the plan still accomplishes what the client intends, and whether anything needs to be corrected or updated.

And sometimes, finding the attorney you trust is worth a little drive. 😊

Thank you for making the trip from San Ramon and, more importantly, for placing your family’s estate planning in my hands.

For those who already have a Living Trust, remember that creating it years ago doesn’t necessarily mean your planning is finished. Changes in your family, assets, real estate, beneficiaries, trustees, or wishes may mean it’s time for a review.

When attorneys hire another attorney, I consider that a special kind of compliment. ⚖️

I recently had the privilege of helping Karen, her husband, and her sister with their estate planning. Karen and her husband are both attorneys themselves, so receiving this review meant a little extra to me.

After all, lawyers know lawyers. 😄

They understand the importance of careful drafting, spotting potential problems, explaining the law clearly, and making sure documents are prepared properly. Yet what I appreciated most about Karen's review wasn't simply that fellow attorneys trusted our office. It was what she chose to say about the experience:

⭐ "Peter is a wonderful attorney and walked us through the process."
⭐ We identified and corrected an issue involving a previous deed.
⭐ We prepared comprehensive estate planning packages tailored to each person.
⭐ And she described our entire team as "very professional and courteous."

Those are the qualities we work hard to deliver every day at DP Legal Solutions.

Whether our client is an attorney who understands the legal system or someone creating a Living Trust for the very first time, our approach is the same: pay attention to the details, explain the process, identify problems before they become bigger problems, and treat people with professionalism and courtesy.

Karen, thank you for trusting a fellow attorney with something as important as your family's estate planning. Your confidence in me and my team means a great deal.

And yes, there is some added pressure when two attorneys are sitting across the table reviewing your work. 😉 Challenge accepted.

If it's time to create or update your Living Trust, Will, Power of Attorney, or complete estate plan, we'd be honored to help.

After much thought and reflection, I have decided to step away from my Mortgage Loan Originator license and dedicate my full attention to my legal practice.

Over the years, it has been an incredible privilege to help so many families and individuals achieve the dream of homeownership. Whether it was securing a competitive interest rate, structuring the right loan program, or navigating a challenging transaction, I have always considered it an honor to be part of such an important milestone in your lives.

I am especially grateful to all of my past clients who placed their trust in me. Your referrals, support, and confidence have meant more than words can express.

As many of you know, the demand for my legal services has continued to grow. To best serve my clients and ensure every case receives the attention it deserves, I have made the decision to focus exclusively on practicing law.

While I may no longer originate mortgage loans, I remain committed to helping our community through legal services in the areas of:

• Immigration Law & Litigation
• Estate Planning & Litigation

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your homeownership journey. I look forward to continuing to serve you and your families in this next chapter.

With sincere gratitude,

Another review that made me smile... for more than one reason. 😊

One of the greatest compliments I can receive is knowing that a client left my office feeling informed, confident, and at ease.

This recent review mentioned that I was professional, friendly, patient, explained everything clearly, and helped them feel confident in making their decisions. Those are exactly the qualities I strive to bring to every estate planning meeting.

It also mentioned that "She explained everything clearly..."

Well... after checking the mirror this morning, I can confirm I'm still a he. 😄

In all seriousness, I know it was simply a typo, and it gave me a good laugh. More importantly, I'm grateful that what stood out wasn't me—it was the experience my clients had.

Estate planning doesn't have to be confusing or intimidating. My goal is to make every client feel comfortable asking questions, understand every document they sign, and leave with peace of mind knowing their family is protected.

Thank you to every client who takes the time to leave a review. Your trust—and your kind words—mean more than you know.

If you've been putting off creating a Living Trust or Will, I'd be honored to help.

"I am grateful."

People often assume that because they hire a lawyer and pay legal fees, saying "thank you" isn't necessary.

After all, "I paid for the service."

But I've never looked at my profession that way.

Every client who walks into my office is trusting me with something deeply personal—their family, their home, their life's savings, or a difficult chapter in their lives. That's a responsibility I never take lightly.

So when a client says, "I'm grateful for your guidance," it means more to me than they probably realize.

Not because I expect praise.

But because gratitude reminds us that behind every legal case are human beings helping other human beings.

This recent Yelp review touched me for one simple sentence:

"I am grateful for his guidance."

Those six words made my day.

To everyone who has trusted me and to those who have taken a moment to say "thank you," please know that I never take it for granted.

I remain committed to treating every client with empathy, patience, professionalism—and yes, sometimes a little humor when it's needed most.

Thank you for allowing me to do work that truly matters.

There are many qualities people expect from an attorney—knowledge, professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail.

But one quality that clients don't often expect... is a sense of humor.

Estate planning is about preparing for difficult conversations—aging, incapacity, and eventually, death. These topics can feel uncomfortable or even overwhelming. I have always believed that while the work must be taken seriously, the experience doesn't have to be intimidating.

One of the greatest compliments I can receive is when a client tells me they felt comfortable, understood, and even laughed a little during the process.

This recent Yelp review truly made my day:

"His professionalism, kindness, and great sense of humor made the process comfortable and easy for her to understand."

Thank you for trusting me with something so important. It is a privilege to help families protect what they have worked so hard to build.

If you've been thinking about creating a Living Trust, Will, or other estate planning documents, don't wait until a crisis forces the conversation. A well-prepared plan is one of the greatest gifts you can leave your loved ones.

WHAT IS "GOOD MORAL CHARACTER"—AND WHY DOES IT MATTER WHEN APPLYING FOR U.S. CITIZENSHIP?

Many people believe that becoming a U.S. citizen is simply a matter of:

✅ Having a Green Card for the required number of years.

✅ Passing the English and Civics tests.

While those are important requirements, there is another critical requirement that many applicants overlook:

Good Moral Character (GMC).

Under U.S. immigration law, USCIS doesn't just review how long you've been a lawful permanent resident. They also evaluate whether you have demonstrated Good Moral Character during the statutory period required by law.

There are certain situations where a person may not be considered to have Good Moral Character, including:

❌ Being a habitual drunkard.

❌ Engaging in prostitution.

❌ Participating in alien smuggling.

❌ Having been removed from the United States or currently being in removal proceedings (in certain situations).

❌ Being convicted of certain Crimes Involving Moral Turpitude (CIMTs) or controlled substance offenses (with limited exceptions).

❌ Earning your primary income from illegal gambling.

❌ Giving false testimony to obtain immigration benefits.

❌ Being incarcerated for an aggregate period of 180 days or more under certain circumstances.

⚠️ However, it is important to understand what this list does—and does not—mean.

Being associated with one of these issues does not automatically mean your citizenship application will be denied.

Likewise, not falling into one of these categories does not automatically guarantee approval.

USCIS reviews the totality of the circumstances, including:

• The nature and seriousness of the conduct.

• When it occurred.

• Whether you have accepted responsibility and corrected the issue.

• Evidence of rehabilitation.

• Your overall history of complying with the law.

Every case is unique.

💡 My Advice as an Immigration Attorney

If you have ever:

• Been arrested or convicted of a crime,

• Had tax problems,

• Made mistakes in a previous immigration application,

• Been involved in any of the issues listed above,

don't automatically assume you are ineligible for U.S. citizenship.

At the same time, don't assume everything will be fine and file your application without first understanding the legal consequences.

A thorough legal review before filing your N-400 could help identify potential risks and avoid costly mistakes.

👇 QUESTION FOR YOU

In your opinion, which factor should USCIS consider the most when evaluating an applicant's Good Moral Character?

A. Having no criminal record.

B. Being truthful with immigration authorities.

C. Paying taxes and fulfilling family responsibilities.

D. Looking at the applicant's overall conduct and circumstances.

Comment A, B, C, or D below.

I'll discuss how USCIS evaluates Good Moral Character in more detail in an upcoming post.
