🚨 California Pedestrian Deaths Still Too High — But There’s Hope

Did you know California has the highest number of pedestrian fatalities in the nation? In 2023 alone, over 1,100 pedestrians lost their lives on our roads.

While the state saw a small decline (about 13%) in pedestrian deaths in the first half of 2024, the numbers remain alarmingly high. Speeding, poor lighting, distracted driving (including cell phone use while driving), and larger vehicles all play a role in these preventable tragedies.

The good news? Programs like Vision Zero, safer crosswalk designs, and traffic calming measures are making a difference in certain California cities. But there’s still so much work to do to protect people while walking.

At The Hassell Law Group, we take care of injured pedestrians and their families every day. We ensure they get compensated. No pedestrian should feel like their life is at risk just by crossing the street. Motorists who do not yield to pedestrians in the roadway need to be held accountable.

We are proud to welcome Grecia “Gracie” Hendrickson to The Hassell Law Group Team in San Francisco! 🎉

Gracie began her legal career in Texas in 2020, focusing on personal injury law, and managed her own personal injury and immigration law firm—successfully resolving over 200 cases on behalf of her clients.

She relocated to California in 2024, became licensed to practice here, and immediately joined our team. Prior to that, Gracie served as a Director and Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston Law Center, supervising and teaching clinical law students.

Gracie’s broad experience includes handling motor vehicle, trucking, rideshare, drunk driving, burn injury, and slip-and-fall injury claims.

Motivated by her younger brother’s serious trucking accident, which led her to witness firsthand the critical role of skilled legal representation, Gracie is committed to fiercely advocating for the injured.

She holds a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin (with honors). Fluent in Spanish, Gracie is a passionate advocate for the Latino community in the Bay Area.
