Day In The Life Of An Immigration Attorney: Preparing For The Naturalization Exam 📚

What does a day in the life of an immigration attorney look like? Sometimes, it means stepping outside the office and helping students prepare for an important step toward U.S. citizenship.

I visited Jefferson Union High School District Adult Division to talk with students about preparing for the naturalization interview and civics test. Here are a few important preparation tips:

🗣️ Practice Your Answers Out Loud
Don’t just memorize the answers. Say them out loud so you become more comfortable and confident responding during the interview.

❓ Practice Asking The Questions, Too
Knowing what the question is asking can make it easier to remember and give your answer clearly.

📝 Practice Your N-400 Questions
The naturalization interview also includes questions about the information in your Form N-400. Practice answering basic personal questions, such as your name and address.

Wishing everyone preparing for their 2026 naturalization exam the very best! For more information, please get in touch with us:

🗣️ Practica Tus Respuestas En Voz Alta

📝 Practica Las Preguntas Del Formulario N-400

Top 3 Marriage-Based AOS Tips: Previous Marriages & Divorce Documents 💍

If you’re applying for Adjustment of Status (AOS) based on marriage and you were previously married, there are important documents you may need to provide. 💍
Here are 3 important things to keep in mind:

1️⃣ Properly Terminate Every Previous Marriage
Before entering a new marriage, your previous marriage must have been legally terminated. USCIS may require documentation showing how the prior marriage ended.

2️⃣ Provide A Death Certificate If Your Former Spouse Passed Away
If a previous marriage ended because your former spouse died, you may need to provide the death certificate and report the relevant information on your immigration forms, as applicable.

3️⃣ A Divorce Must Be Final
If your previous marriage ended in divorce, you generally need evidence showing that the divorce was final and legally dissolved. A legal separation is not the same as a final divorce.
Because the requirements can depend on your specific circumstances and the laws governing your prior marriage, make sure you have the appropriate documentation before filing your AOS case.

If you're dealing with a previous marriage, consulting with an immigration attorney and, when appropriate, a family law attorney can help you understand what documentation may be needed.

Top 3 Consejos De AOS Por Matrimonio: Matrimonios Anteriores 💍

Aquí tienes 3 puntos importantes:

1️⃣ Termina Legalmente Cada Matrimonio Anterior
