Another successful AILA San Diego Taco Party! 🌮 🪅

Thanks to everyone who joined us, along with their families and pets, for one of our favorite annual gatherings.

And a big thank you to “El Paisa Mex,” our go-to caterers for the past several years, for keeping us well-fed with tacos and handmade tortillas.

Thanks to all who came out! We’ll see everyone again in December for our Annual Holiday Party.

Tonight, San Diego AILA was honored to participate in the Justice 250 event. Aboard the iconic flight deck of the U.S.S. Midway Museum, we celebrated the anniversary of our Constitution, the history of our nation, our judicial system, its role in our democracy, and the rule of law.

Other “partners in justice” included the San Diego Federal Defenders, the ACLU, the USD school of Law Immigration Clinic, and the San Diego Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Featuring California Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero, Judge Margaret McKeown of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and SDCBA President Tim Williams.

Birthright citizenship is a fundamental constitutional promise. We join AILA in welcoming today's SCOTUS decision upholding the principle of birthright citizenship. See AILA’s full statement: https://bit.ly/4waeZty

“While not legally groundbreaking, today’s decision is nonetheless historic in its clear confirmation" that the Fourteenth Amendment "guarantees citizenship to children born in the United States regardless of their parents’ immigration status.”

AILA welcomed the Supreme Court decision 6-3 in Trump v. Barbara, upholding the principle of birthright citizenship: “We are proud that the constitutional bulwark of the nation has withstood another challenge.”
