Nanya Thompson Law, Inc.

Nanya Thompson Law, Inc. Immigration attorney dedicated to defending immigrant rights since 2007 I am passionate about defending immigrant rights. I offer free initial consultations.

For the last 8 years, I have dedicated my entire career as an attorney to helping immigrants in my community and throughout the world. My passion comes from own family's immigrant experience, including my grandfather, a first-generation Japanese immigrant, who was forced to live in an internment camp during World War II. While the United States is a country full of immigrants, there is an ongoing

need to protect and advocate for immigrant rights. As an attorney, who is known for taking on and achieving positive results in complex immigration cases, I understand this need, and will work zealously to help you and your family members and friends in any immigration matters. My practice focuses on bond and detention matters, deportation defense, particularly against lawful permanent residents facing deportation for criminal offenses, affirmative and defensive asylum applications, naturalization, derivative and acquired citizenship, immigrant family petitions, immigrant visa applications at the consulate, fiance petitions and visas, conditional residency, petitions for victims of domestic violence, U-visas (visas for crime victims), T-visas (visas for trafficking victims), immigration-related appeals both at the BIA and federal circuit courts, waivers of inadmissibility (pardons), advising immigrants facing criminal charges, advising criminal defense attorneys regarding safe immigration pleas and post-conviction relief matters, application review, and business and investor visas. I have represented people from all over the world. Call or email me today! I look forward to assisting you.

Great news!! Making the public charge standard fair again. Thank you Secretary Mayorkas.

DHS Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas announced that the government will no longer defend the 2019 public charge rule as doing so is neither in the public interest nor an efficient use of limited government resources.

The fight for is not over as the District Court in Texas will consider the legality of the program later this month, so we need laws to protect recipients.

There have been nearly 2,000 reported incidences of discrimination and hate speech against the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Let's help spread the word that scapegoating and fearmongering an entire community is unacceptable. It will do nothing to help us defeat this public health emergency.

Experiencing a delay in receiving your work permit or lawful permanent residency card (green card)? You card may be affected by USCIS' delay in printing cards. Unfortunately, things will likely get worse before they get better with USCIS' budget shortfalls and expected furlough of employees.

USCIS cut production after its contract ended with a printing company. Reportedly 50,000 green cards and 75,000 work permits have not been printed.

This administration has stacked the administrative immigration court with judges to implement their aggressive anti-immigration policies and make it harder for immigrants to qualify for relief. We need to separate the immigration courts from the Department of Justice. The system is rigged and is completely unfair. At this point, given the politicization of the department, the Department of Justice should just rename itself it to the Department of No Justice.

The Board of Immigration Appeals, once an impartial appellate court, has become a new front in the Trump administration’s war against migrants.

Supreme Court saves DACA for now!! The administration can still end the program. Congress must step up and protect before Trump and Stephen Miller attempt to kill the program again. Many of the DACA recipients are healthcare workers and essential employees who have risked their lives to help other Americans. Time to recognize their value to our communities and country by giving them legal status.

The 5 to 4 decision was written by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and joined by the court’s four liberals.
