He served as union president of the Placentia Unified School District for a short time before becoming the founding director/clinical supervisor of the Scripps MacDonald Center for Adolescent Chemical Dependency Recovery in La Jolla, California. Following his work as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor, Mr. Hoyt served as the Special Consultant for Player Development for the San Diego Padres baseball club, assisting young minor league players with non-baseball problems and providing advice and support for “life after baseball” planning, while he worked to obtain his Doctorate in law from Thomas Jefferson School of Law (formerly, Western State University) where he graduated from in 1988. Hoyt’s wide range of work and life experience has granted him the unique ability to handle his clients’ legal concerns in a complete and thoughtful manner, which has empowered him to provide creative solutions to challenging legal problems that might otherwise be overlooked.
