Another Lithium Battery Fire in 24 Hours!

Lithium-ion batteries are believed to be the cause of two separate fires in San Diego, one of which led to an explosion that left a man with critical burn injuries, the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said.

Attention E-Bikers and Scooter Riders!

The Port of San Diego is holding a public meeting to provide information and obtain feedback regarding proposed amendments to San Diego Unified Port District Code Section 8.07 – Regulation of Motorized Mobility Devices. The proposed amendments include regulations for motorized mobility devices to only operate on streets and in bike lanes, and to prohibit the operation of motorized mobility devices on sidewalks, pathways, piers, and promenades to protect pedestrians. Motorized Mobility Devices include, but are not limited to: pedicabs, motorized scooters, electric bikes, hoverboards, motorized boards and skateboards, shared mobility devices, and other motorized micro-mobility devices. There will be exceptions for ADA mobility devices.

When: Thursday, April 13 at 10 a.m.
Where: Port of San Diego Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego

Lithium batteries have caused many fires. Be careful!

A resident of a Barrio Logan apartment was burned and hospitalized after a fire apparently caused when an e-bike battery ignited and exploded Sunday.
