Abby has written a blog post explaining the Transgender Military Ban in detail. KMD is here to help transgender military members navigate this uncertain and scary situation. KMD believes that all qualified, willing members should be able to serve in the military regardless of their gender identity. We feel the transgender military service ban is an illegal, discriminatory policy, and we are determined to fight it.

KMD is thrilled to announce the newest member of our team, Lindsey! She was formerly a Petty Officer First Class in the Navy. Lindsey joined the Navy in 2015 as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) before being chosen to cross-rate to Legalman. Having worked at the Defense Service Office, she has over 5 years of experience specificially in military justice. She joins the team as a paralegal, and she's currently attending law school!

She brings her Navy experience and passion for defending servicemembers to the team at KMD. Welcome, Lindsey!

BREAKING: More Sailors can now turn down nonjudicial punishment. I explain more in Navy Times. I'll be doing an upcoming blog post because, while this is a step in the right direction, it is not enough. Regardless of what command they're at, all Sailors and Marines deserve the same rights as every other servicemember.

The Navy issued guidance clarifying the so-called "vessel exception" to help commanding officers apply it consistently across the service.

Last week, after nearly a year of litigation, Abby obtained a NOT GUILTY verdict for our Client, an Army Sergeant First Class! He was taken to trial following a positive urinalysis, but now he can get back to taking care of his Soldiers and looking forward to retirement. Great work, Abby!
