Thinking about adding your kids to the title of your house to avoid probate? 🏡⚖️

Before you do, you may want to understand the serious risks that can come with it 😬

Adding children to title can potentially create:
💰 Capital gains tax problems
📑 Property tax reassessment issues
⚠️ Exposure to lawsuits, divorce, or creditors
👨‍👩‍👧 Family disputes after death

What sounds like a simple shortcut can sometimes create a much bigger legal and financial mess for your loved ones later.

In our newest article, we break down why this strategy can backfire and what safer estate planning options may exist instead.

Can you still change your estate plan after a dementia diagnosis? 🧠⚖️

The answer is not always simple. Once cognitive decline begins, questions about legal capacity can make updates difficult, expensive, and sometimes challenged later in court.

That’s why we strongly encourage reviewing your estate plan every 3–5 years 📅 and making updates while you are still healthy and clearly able to make decisions.

We’ve also seen cases where families waited too long, and we were required to obtain medical capacity letters just to move forward. Even then, there is no guarantee the plan will hold up if contested.

The best time to protect your wishes is before there is ever doubt about capacity.

“Can’t you just amend my trust?” 🤔

We recently met with a client who had a 20-year-old trust and EIGHT separate amendments. Some were missing, some conflicted, and some raised serious legal questions after the passing of her spouse.

Unfortunately, this kind of estate planning mess is more common than people realize 😬

In our newest blog article, we explain:
📑 Why multiple trust amendments can create confusion
⚖️ How missing amendments can lead to litigation
👨‍👩‍👧 Why families end up fighting over conflicting documents
✅ A better solution many law firms recommend instead
