I am sure that you are all tired of hearing me talk about the trucking bill and how dangerous it is for Texans. So, now you get to hear me talk about another bill and how GOOD it is for Texans. HB 359 would make insurance companies do what you pay premiums to them to do, and pay you for your injuries when you are injured by someone who either does not have enough insurance to cover the damages they caused you, or does not have any insurance at all. Current law requires you to essentially file a lawsuit against your insurance company when you are injured by someone who is underinsured or uninsured to obtain the benefits that you have paid premiums to receive. In essence when you buy underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage you are buying a right to sue your insurance company for those benefits. That is not what that coverage is being bought for. Tell your Legislators to support HB 359 so you don't have to call me to sue your own insurance company and make them do the right thing when you're hit by someone is underinsured or uninsured.
