The downside of being a Realtor: apparently, we’re a gateway drug for every home service company in town. 😂

As real estate professionals, we get TONS of solicitations from home service providers, lenders, insurance companies, security companies, and just about every other industry that sees Realtors as potential referral partners.

And honestly, I respect the hustle. I really do.

But man… it can be overwhelming.

When we close a buyer-side transaction, from about 2–3 hours after the MLS updates to the next 2–3 days, I can expect 5–10 calls from home security companies asking for my client’s contact information.

Sometimes it’s a real person.
Sometimes it’s an AI bot.
Sometimes I’m honestly not sure. 😂

For the record, we never give out our clients’ information. Our clients trusted us with their transaction, and that trust matters.

But if you’re looking for a home security company…
I’ve got about 362 contacts for that. 😂

Sometimes you lose.

For some reason, people think about real estate differently than they do stocks or other investments. Nobody likes taking a loss on a house, land, or investment property. But sometimes it happens.

Especially in a market like 2026.

The sooner a seller accepts that reality, the better the outcome often becomes. Holding onto an unrealistic price just because you paid more doesn’t change what the market says today.

Call it the price of real estate education.
Call it a byproduct of a life choice.
Call it whatever you want.

But sometimes you take the loss, learn from it, and move on.
Because the goal isn’t to avoid every loss in real estate. The goal is to make sure one loss doesn’t become a bigger one.

Social media lies… or at least, it REALLY misleads us when it comes to real estate. 😂

If your social media feed is anything like mine, it seems like everyone is buying, selling, building, or remodeling a $2 million+ luxury home. 🏡💰

But here’s the thing…

The math doesn’t lie.

That $2 million home you keep seeing? In San Antonio, that is far, far above the norm. The median home price in the San Antonio metro is still in the low-to-mid $300s.

Social media makes it look like it’s luxury or nothing.

Reality is a whole lot more diverse.
