🚨 LET’S CLEAR THIS UP ONCE & FOR ALL 🚨
I keep seeing confusion about tax prep fees vs. bank fees, so here’s the truth in plain language 👇🏽
🧾 Your TAX PREPARATION FEE
This is what you pay your preparer for:
✔️ Preparing your return
✔️ Reviewing documents
✔️ Due diligence
✔️ Filing with the IRS
That fee is set by the preparer and must be disclosed and agreed to.
🏦 BANK FEES & ADVANCE FEES
If you choose a refund advance or bank product, those fees:
✔️ Are charged by the BANK
✔️ Are NOT set by the preparer
✔️ Are automatically taken from your refund
✔️ CANNOT be removed or adjusted by the preparer
⚠️ IMPORTANT
You cannot pay a prep fee out of a refund advance.
Advances are loans issued by the bank. Prep fees are separate.
📌 Everything is listed on your fee disclosure.
If you don’t understand it, ask questions before signing.
Education over confusion.
Transparency over noise.
If a preparer can’t explain your paperwork, find one who can.
