Wealthy republican texas state rep Mayes Middleton from district 23, just filed several bills. Let's sort through them soo that we can see the war on women and children on full display with a dose of hipocrisy.
He filed the 50/50 shared parenting bill HB2157 while professing to care for the dignity of unborn childrens lives.

1. This bill would basically thrust a stay at home mother into an automatic 50/50 custody arrangement immediately upon divorce and provide little to no financial support for child. In the majority of examples from other states it tends to be zero support for child.

2. It would also cause an absentee parent to have automatic 50/50 custody while legally not holding them responsible financially for raising child.

3. It would give a domestic abuser automatic
50/50 custody and leave the victim having to prove with a preponderance of evidence their case and leave children in abusive situations until then. If they have zero money for attorneys they are out of luck. Making it even harder than it already is as an example to protect a sexually abused child.

This bill is not a family friendly bill. It punishes stay at home mothers, domestic violence survivors and would put additional burdens on women raising a child financially when a parent is absentee. How can we pretend to care about unborn childrens lives and not care to protect abused children? Or not care that a newly divorced stay at home mom could be homeless with child? Or make it easier for uninvolved parents to avoid financial responsibility legally of child? Children from single mothers make up half of all children living in poverty. This bill would make those numbers soar even higher. Is that truly caring about the dignity of life??
