Turning 40 taught me something I wish I'd learned sooner: who you're around and where you spend your time actually matters. 🎂

Not everyone's opinion of me holds weight anymore. And being "close" to me — even family — doesn't automatically mean relationship. Relation is by blood. Relationship is by access, and access is earned.

God does remove the people who aren't for you. Sometimes that removal looks like Him simply moving you somewhere they can't follow.

Heads up — the IRS increased the business mileage rate mid-year. 🚗

It's now 76 cents per mile for trips on or after July 1, 2026, up from 72.5 cents earlier in the year. Make sure you're splitting your mileage log at that date so you're applying the right rate to each trip.

👋 Two things to get done this month if you haven't already:

1. October 15th — Extended Tax Deadline
If you filed an extension earlier this year, this is your deadline to actually file. Don't let it sneak up on you.

2. Collect & Review Your Subcontractors' W9s
If you've paid any subcontractors $600 or more this year, you need a W9 on file for each of them. Come January, you'll need that info to issue their 1099s — and if you're missing it (or it's incorrect), you'll be chasing them down last minute, or worse, filing with wrong info.

Get ahead of both of these now so December/January isn't a scramble.
