I miss the days when my biggest problem was choosing between Edward and Jacob. 😄

Now I am over here running a business, serving clients, managing books, filing taxes, and figuring out how to still show up for everything else life asks of me outside of business hours.

Nobody told me that building something of your own would feel this heavy and this rewarding at the exact same time.

Draw the character in the image, "(your name)", in a free and stripped sketch style. On a bright white background, freely distribute full-body drawings, face close-ups, small scribbles, full-body sketches and chibi/deformed versions, so that the page conveys the character's humor and personality. The 1099 rules changed in 2026 and there is a lot of confusion going around.
Here is the simple version:

$400 — if your net self employment income hits $400 or more you owe self employment taxes. This has not changed and it is not going away.

$2,000 — this is the new threshold for filing a Form 1099-NEC starting January 1st 2026. If you paid a contractor less than $2,000 this year you are not required to send them a form.

But the most important thing to understand is this — not receiving a 1099 does not mean you do not owe taxes. Every dollar of self employment income is taxable whether a form shows up or not.

The rules changed. Make sure your bookkeeping and tax habits change with them.

I want to take a moment to be real with you today.

When I started First Fruit Financial Management I did not have a roadmap. No blueprint. No mentor handing me the playbook. I just had a vision, a whole lot of determination, and the belief that building something of my own was worth every uncomfortable moment it took to get there.

There were days I questioned everything. Days where the road ahead felt longer than the progress I had made. But I kept going — not just for me, but for something bigger than me.
