In less than 6 hours, I will attend a court hearing as an observer. I was the advocate for a young man about 22 months ago in a federal court trial in Austin. He was acquitted of almost all of the many charges brought against him. One invoice of less than $200.00 is the basis of his conviction. Now, another advocate will stand up for this young man before a panel of three appellate judges - - a "higher" court than where he was convicted. I believe this young man is innocent. I also believe the prosecutor was unrighteous in some things that he did. As I observe the advocacy of other lawyers and listen to the judges' comments and questions, I will be praying. Please lift up a prayer that the three judges who will listen this morning will be blessed with clarity and justice and righteousness.

What a special blessing I received in going into a battle with my brother Scott. With long odds against us, we ultimately heard the words "Not Guilty" in Laredo federal court yesterday. Raise a toast to freedom and victory!! Our client went home to his parents last night and avoided a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison.

I'm looking forward to what God has planned for my law practice in 2017. I know there are and will be people who need representation and counsel. I know that it's not just a fluke or coincidence that I'm a pastor and also someone who works in this field. I know our criminal justice system still has flaws . . . still susceptible to oppression, arrogance, cynicism and bias . . . so, there is still much work to be done. I'm blessed to have the staff I've been given, my health, and people who entrust their situations to my care. I'm so thankful for those who have supported me through challenges. May God guide me in 2017 and give me gifts of wisdom and perseverance.

Sad to see my associate attorney leave to begin a new chapter in his career at the Bexar County District Attorney Office. In search process for a new associate, which will bring a new face to our workplace. So, I'm sad, but looking forward to what God has in store for us.

Big move today . . . our office moved to a new office not far from the airport. I'm looking forward to our team's continuing effort to serve those who entrust themselves and their family to us. May our G-d continue to bless us with wisdom, health and compassion.

Sad day for me and my office yesterday. I came to know a very good young man and his family. We lost in trial yesterday, and my office is sad for him and his family. I know we cannot win every trial; that goes with the territory. But it still saddens me when you get to know someone and their heart.

I am very optimistic that 2015 will be a great year for me and my office. We've been blessed so much, and there is every reason to see that it will continue. My staff is excited; we are honored by numerous clients who have entrusted their life situations with us; we have been called to service on critically important matters; and we have our health.
