This spring, St. Mary's University School of Law will be partnering with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid on virtual clinic, to be held on Friday, April 1. Volunteers are sought for a morning shift from 9 – 11 am, as well as an afternoon shift from 1-3 pm. Law students will be volunteering throughout the day interviewing clients and preparing initial drafts of documents. TRLA attorneys, as well as pro bono attorneys, will assist with answering questions, reviewing petitions, and facilitating the filing process.

The TRLA team has a particular need for pro bono attorneys that are in a position to e-file petitions for clients not eligible for TRLA services: those over TRLA’s income guidelines, for example, as well as non-citizens. This will allow the clinic to reach as many clients as possible. As before, these petitions will be filed with the Travis County District Clerk. No further representation (e.g., a prove-up) is required, as the Travis County bench grants these unopposed petitions by submission.

If you are interested, contact Greg Zlotnick ([email protected]) to let him know which shift or shifts you’d like to work.
