The Law Offices of Peter J. Stanton is proud to announce that our client, Weinritter St. Paul Square, LLC, was awarded 1.9 million dollars of actual damages and 1.5 million dollars of punitive damages in a commercial dispute over the renovation of the Aiden Hotel in historic St. Paul’s Square in San Antonio. The jury found the Defendants were liable under the Texas Anti-Theft Act, fraud, and conspiracy to launder money, for soliciting a $672,000.00 deposit to purchase furniture, fixtures, and equipment for San Antonio’s newest boutique hotel - and then not purchasing anything.
The case was designated as a “complex case” after the parties had nineteen different pre-trial motions heard by eleven different judges. The case was assigned to Hon. Nicole Garza, who discharged the jury on February 18, 2024. The case took two years to get to trial, and the Defendants incurred over $600,000.00 in fees, which they sought to recover from the Plaintiff.
We were honored to try the case with able co-counsel C. Brooks von Biberstein of The Law Offices of C. Brooks von Biberstein and David M. Adkisson of the Adkisson Law PLLC. Of course, none of this would be possible without the aid of Marbella Gaona, our legal assistant.

Today I lost one of my best friends and a brilliant lawyer with whom I have.practiced with since 1992. Ronald J. Johnson passed this evening peacefully at home with his beloved wife Susan. One of the smartest people I ever met Ron was Ron until the end. One of our last discussions was whether he would see his friends Harold Putnam and Ken Nunley soon. And if so, where.?Those of you who knew Ron will know what mean. RIPRJJ.

Congratulations to James Dykeman who has made life better for all of us. He was admitted to Temple Law School. It will be sad to lose him, but wish him well. He taught us all how to be better people.

These young people are an example to all of us. The police work for and are accountable to us. When the people who enforce the law control the people who make the law our democracy is threatened.

Commentary: To get bad police officers off our streets, keep good officers as role models for the community, and cement lasting reform, we must vote to repeal Chapters 174 and 143.

We are always accepting donations to cover the cost of petitioning during a pandemic.

Both petitions combined require upwards of 100,000 verifiable signatures to be placed on a ballot. Then the real work starts. We will be facing a professional lobbying organization with hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars at their disposal to campaign against accountable policing in San Antonio.
