The corporate shell game has become a common practice in the nursing home industry. The actual nursing home appears broke on paper because all profits are sucked out of the nursing home by related entities. When the nursing home is sued, injured residents and their families have a much harder time collecting money from the related companies with the full coffers. The result: poor care; limited accountability.

On average, injury and complaint rates are higher, and staffs smaller, at for-profit facilities that outsource goods and services to their owners’ other businesses.

This is unconscionable! The elderly nursing home population is the most vulnerable segment of our society. The elderly (read: our PARENTS!) deserve more protection against abuse and neglect, not less.

Glenn W. Cunningham began his legal career in 1990 in the internationally renowned law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P., in Houston, Texas, after graduating from Baylor Law School where he served as Managing Editor of the Baylor Law Review. Glenn spent the first 10 years of his practice defending doctors and hospitals in malpractice suits. From this experience, he learned how health care providers operate, hide their mistakes, cover for each other, and defend meritorious cases. In 2001, Marynell Maloney brought Glenn to San Antonio to head her firm's nursing home negligence section. In 2004, Glenn formed the Law Offices of Glenn W.
