A tornado touched down in the San Antonio area Wednesday morning as severe storms moved across the region, prompting warnings and raising concerns about flooding and damaging winds.

The National Weather Service confirmed that the tornado moved through northwest San Antonio Wednesday morning, near the Shavano Park and The Dominion areas, as a line of severe storms swept across the region. The storm tracked northeast toward Leon Springs and Fair Oaks Ranch, while heavy rain and flooding threats continued across the San Antonio area.

The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning around 7:49 a.m. for a radar-indicated tornado near IH10 and Loop 1604. Several eyewitnesses shared pictures and video on social media of the storm near the Rim Shopping Center, where there were scattered reports of damage. The tornado continued moving north through the Fair Oaks area and eventually weakened around Bergheim. So far, no injuries have been reported. The National Weather Service has yet to confirm the wind speeds of the storm.

Yes, “self-deportation”, is still a thing; however, ...

Leaving the United States on your own can have serious immigration consequences. Depending on your case, leaving may trigger unlawful-presence bars, affect pending applications, hurt future waivers, or make it difficult to return legally.

Every case is different. Before making the decision to leave, make sure you understand:

• Whether you have relief available in immigration court
• Whether you may qualify for a waiver or family-based case
• Whether leaving will trigger a 3-year, 10-year, or permanent bar
• Whether voluntary departure is a better option than simply leaving
• How your departure could affect your family and future immigration options

Do not make this decision out of fear or pressure. Get legal advice first so you understand your rights and the consequences.

Helping families understand their options before making life-changing decisions.

IMPORTANT IMMIGRATION UPDATE

USCIS has issued a new policy memorandum emphasizing that Adjustment of Status (green card applications inside the U.S.) is a discretionary benefit — not an automatic right, even when someone is otherwise eligible.

This means USCIS officers may now place greater scrutiny on:
▪️ Visa overstays
▪️ Unauthorized employment
▪️ Status violations
▪️ Marriage-based adjustment cases
▪️ Prior immigration history

Positive factors such as family ties, tax compliance, long-term residence, rehabilitation, and hardship evidence may become more important than ever before.

The law itself has NOT changed, but the way USCIS evaluates cases may become much stricter.

If you or a loved one is considering filing for Adjustment of Status, it is important to properly prepare your case and supporting evidence.
