The 48th Annual TexasBarCLE Marriage Dissolution Institute is underway in Galveston, bringing family law professionals together for a weekend of learning, connection, and insight.
Yusuf Ross Law is proud to share that its founder, Board Certified Family Law Attorney Emily T. Ross, was selected to speak on Chapter 107 appointments in family law cases.
Her session focused on how these appointments and related tools help courts work through constitutional requirements, advocacy needs, child best-interest considerations, and evidentiary development.
Inspired by her young sons, Emily added a creative twist, using well-known children's heroes to walk through what can otherwise feel like a complicated process. She describes it as “the right hero for the right role," showing how each serves a specific purpose and can meaningfully impact how a case unfolds.
Chapter 107 isn't just about knowing the titles. Each role and tool serves a different function in helping the court protect children, preserve due process, and understand what information matters most. The key is matching the right appointment or tool to the need, whether that's advocacy, neutrality, evidentiary development, or targeted support.
