For most parents, the important thing is that their children survive the split-up. They want their children to grow up to be healthy adults. Many children do, of course. Some are even better off in many ways; for some children, a break-up is better than staying in an unhappy family. A separation can also be better than being in a home where parents argue so much.

HOW WILL YOUR DIVORCE LOOK?
As difficult as it may be, experts add that parents need to work to reconcile their emotional differences post-split to create a new foundation for kids. That way, experts say, they can work together to move forward in the newly divided family state. Experts note, of course, that can be especially tough for two people who couldn’t come to terms in their relationship, but experts say coming to a working relationship is an important step to providing kids with stability anew.

What do you think of this new law??

Monday, Gov. Matt Bevin signed a revised law affecting temporary child-custody orders — the starting point for divorces. Kentucky’s House and Senate unanimously approved the law, which creates a presumption of joint custody and equal parenting time.

Physical Custody

Another form of custody is physical custody. This term denotes where the child primarily spends his or her time. Parents may also have joint physical custody, even if the child does not exactly spend 50 percent of his or her time in each home. The parents may agree or the court may order to sole custody in which one parent will be the primary parent and the other will receive a right to visit with the child according to an agreement or schedule.
