Occasionally, an opportunity arrives that you feel cannot be passed up. I was recently offered a one-year legal fellowship with the San Antonio Legal Services Association (https://sa-lsa.org) to help expand their housing and homelessness program.

Tenant rights and homelessness are issues that have long been close to my heart. And so, I didn't hesitate to accept an offer to help those facing life without shelter. I will start with SA-LSA full-time as their legal fellow for housing on May 1, 2023.

Because of my responsibilities as legal fellow, I will not be accepting clients for extended representation until after March 2024.

To be clear, this fellowship is a pause rather than a departure from the elder law work that I care so much about.

I look forward to helping special needs families and veterans plan and prepare for their future again when I return to full time solo practice next Spring.

It is also about reducing the burden on family and friends in being faithful to your wishes.

Get the powers of attorney, memorial instructions, digital inventory, etc., that they will need. By doing so, you will offer them some peace of mind, knowing that they can act faithfully to your wishes when the time comes.
