🇺🇸 Honoring Our Veterans This Veteran's Day 🇺🇸

Today, we express our deepest gratitude to all who have served our country with bravery (and to the families who stand beside them). Your sacrifices and dedication inspire us every day.

Watson Wood Law encourages you to thank a veteran special or inspiring to you personally today, and today we give a special thank you to San Angelo community member, U.S. Army Major Domingo Sedeno. Major Sedeno continues to be a role model for our youth, inspiring the next generation through his involvement in local schools and his dedication to our West Texas community. Major Sedeno, is a Central High School alum who served over 40 years in the Army. Thank you, Major Sedeno, for your service and for making a difference here at home.

Veterans, please remember the valuable benefits available to you and your loved ones, from VA health care and disability benefits to educational support and estate planning assistance. We are here to help navigate these services and ensure you receive the support you’ve earned.

Thank you, Veterans. We honor and appreciate you today and every day.

🎃👻🍬Happy Halloween to our Communitiy and Families!🍬👻🎃

We can't wait to see the adorable pics and creative, imaginative costumes. Here are a few SAFETY TIPS to consider for a night that is more of a treat than a trick:

1. Choose Well-Lit Paths: When trick-or-treating, stick to well-lit streets and paths. Carry a flashlight or wear reflective clothing, so drivers can easily spot you and your little ghouls and goblins.

2. Buddy Up: Trick-or-treat with friends or family. There’s safety in numbers, and it makes the adventure even more spooktacular and memorable!

3. Inspect Treats: Before digging into those delicious treats, carefully inspect them. Discard any unwrapped or suspicious-looking candies. Safety first, candy second!

4. Be Mindful of Costumes: Ensure costumes are flame-resistant and allow for easy movement. Avoid long, trailing fabrics and opt for face paint instead of masks for better visibility.

5. Home Safety: If you're welcoming trick-or-treaters, make sure your porch and walkways are well-lit. Clear any obstacles to prevent trips and falls. And, of course, keep pets secure indoors.

6. Know Your Neighbors: If your kids are old enough to go without you, know the route they plan to take and the people they will be with. Have them check in regularly, and set a curfew.

7. Allergy Awareness: Many children have allergies. Consider offering non-food treats like stickers or small toys to accommodate all trick-or-treaters.

Remember, Halloween is all about fun and sweets, but it’s even better when it’s safe for everyone. Wishing you all a hair-raising, fang-tastic, and above all, safe and memorable Halloween!

Special moments sometimes bring together our professional and personal lives. Earlier this month, our attorney Whitney presented to expecting parents at a New Parenting Class at Shannon Medical Center to share the importance of estate planning to prepare and protect for the future of families, in particular considering new bundles of joy. She had the lovely surprise to learn that a dear friend had also just delivered her baby boy at the same hospital! What a joy it was for her to go from sharing the importance of planning for a growing family to then get to welcome sweet newborn Colter! It's moments like these that remind us of life's most precious blessings. Let's cherish every milestone and safeguard our loved ones' futures with a well-thought-out estate plan.
