SUBMITTED TO REALCLEARPOLITICS.COM FOR CONSIDERATION
So last night at the DNC, the Democrats trotted out, as usual, Oprah Winfrey who insisted she was an independent and able to vote her values. I want to know how many times she has voted Republican values and would be willing to admit it. I'd wager that along with every other celebrity in the spotlights of this overbearing quadrennial spectacle, she never has. Has she looked at what freedoms the common man and woman in the US really are concerned with?
Freedom, she extolled, is important to all Americans. No kidding, is she serious? The only freedoms that could be clearly defined in her platitudinal tirade however were mostly about gay marriage and abortion, Winfrey ignored the freedoms most Americans are direly concerned about. All the more reason her referring to herself as an independent voter is that much more difficult to accept as truth.
Freedom from open borders and the crime and hundreds of thousands of fentanyl deaths, murders, rapes and robberies that have come along with them are as polls have proven, are of far more concern than abortion and gay marriage. Add to that the freedom diminishing stagnation of wages coming from the huge infusion of cheap, general labor that will work for a few dollars an hour less than any citizen working at the market equilibrium rate in any field. The heavy inflation created under Biden-Harris only makes matters worse.;
Americans want freedom from an economy that has dripped with mediocrity and sluggishness manufactured by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Freedom to make sure that only age-appropriate books are in their children's classrooms is of prime concern and a growing issue at least at local levels. The trite allusion to the banning of books is a deliberate indirection meant to sway the public away from the reality of pornographic work in grade school libraries. Even more so, though you will never hear about it at the DNC, factoring in that every elected Democrat is in the back pocket of the teacher's unions, the freedom to choose what school their child can attend and receive a tuition voucher based on their property taxes. That was a freedom never even close to being defended by the celebrity line up that spoke there yesterday.
Winfrey's elocution of course had to take pot shots at President Trump since the Democrats have no serious platform, no clear plan for the future except to beat Trump. That's their entire motivation and they repeat it beyond ad nauseum.
But America's values, and if you have fallen for the canard of emotional tripe, democracy itself, are supposedly irrevocably at stake in 2024. And those values are squarely on the shoulders of an insecure DEI hire who giggles her answers and rattles off silly quips to hide her ineptitude vis a vis the responsibilities and by extension, freedoms, she has been assigned to protect.
A lot of the chatter from the speakers at the DNC, including Winfrey, stumbled onto us "all working together" and unifying as Americans, that being what makes us great. That was the empty promise of Biden in 2020 and the left-wing media's breathless lavishing of praise for how he would unite the country. In some left-handed way it seems that is being touted as a gift the nation will receive form Harris. But to anyone just moderately aware of her track record, Harris will be a more disunifying figure than Biden and her policies of the past prove it. Harris is someone the United States does NOT need in any leadership position.
Freedom is the predominant theme of the DNC. Freedoms enshrined in the constitution have never been addressed there so far. And as we all know, they will not be. When President Biden insisted on adding a Bureau of Misinformation so as to enshrine government censorship under the mafia-like pretense of protection or when the notion of adding four more leftist judges to the Supreme Court to build an invulnerable legal firewall for their socialist legislation, American's freedom will have changed and not for the better.
Like Winfrey's mostly nonspecific talking points, the actions promised by the Democratic party, should Harris win in November, are nebulous but in the fashion of Joe Biden, likely destructive and divisive. But the Democrats would rather focus on the directionless straw man appeal of the 'joy' of the moment and hope the rest of the country doesn't look too deeply into the fact that their fight for freedom is no more than a compilation of buzzwords designed to hawk fear and mistrust. That's a brand of freedom the United Startes does not need.
